What You’ll Do
As a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI), you will provide specialized educational support to students with blindness or visual impairments within school-based settings.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide itinerant vision-related educational services to students with visual impairments or blindness
- Deliver individualized instruction, including Braille and orientation & mobility support
- Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments
- Adapt curriculum, instructional materials, and classroom environments to ensure accessibility
- Develop accommodations and specialized learning materials based on student needs
- Participate as an active member of the IEP team, including writing goals and monitoring progress
- Plan and implement lessons tailored to students’ visual and educational needs
- Maintain accurate documentation and submit required reports
- Assist with acquiring and implementing adaptive equipment and accessible materials
- Collaborate with teachers, related service providers, and families to support student inclusion and success
What We’re Looking For
- Certification as a Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments required
- Experience working with students with blindness or visual impairments preferred
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Passion for supporting students with diverse learning needs
- Commitment to creating accessible and inclusive educational environments
